Workshop 1 - Outlining the Figure

There are many diffeent ways to make outlines of the figure and this workshop can help you to develop your techniques, confidence adn understanding. You are invited to shake out and loosen up your ideas about drawing and how to make figurative images and to also try a variety of wet and dry media along with different tools for application.

Basic materials are provided - cartridge/black paper, charcoal, chalk, masking tape, erasers and graphite paper. However, it is recommended you bring the following (along with anything else you might like to use): Some colour paper, ink, other drawing media, water based paint, brushes, jam-jars, a paletter or substitute.

Workshop 2 - Light and Shade with the Figure

This session will explore different figurative approaches to representation of tonality and help you to extend your personal visual language. We will consider many different ways of applying tonal media, for example reductive and additive techniques and ways of building up a store of different marks to use for tonal mark-making, both painted and drawn.

You are invted to not only see the figure in isolation but also in relation to its surroundings and how this can help your drawing/painting/making.
