Microworld: Lincoln

Microworld: Lincoln, a new exhibition coming to The Collection Museum, is an immersive, digital world filled with creatures that you can design, interact, and play with.

9 July - 2 October 2022

Open Wednesdays - Mondays, 10am - 4pm.

Microworlds are spectacular digital worlds or ‘ecosystems’ that are filled with amazing creatures. Inspired by ecosystems found in nature, these digital creatures have life cycles, energy needs and survival techniques.

The creatures respond both to each other and you, the audience. You can interact with the creatures or design your very own and release them into the interactive Microworld. Though you will be able to interact with some of the creatures on your Smartphones (and some digital tablets will be provided in the gallery for this too) don’t worry – you don’t need special clothing or technology – as soon as you walk into the Microworld you will start affecting it!

As seen at Eureka in 2018 but never-before shown on this scale, the exhibition is made of 8 different Microworlds. Like an ecosystem, each of the Microworlds in the gallery creates cascades of action and reaction that impact the others, forming part of the wider digital world in the gallery.

More About the artists behind Microworld:
Genetic Moo are a UK-based collective and have been making interactive art for over eleven years. They specialize in building large-scale digital ecosystems called Microworld.

Microworld is produced by Lumen Art Projects and to date they have run 15 Microworlds which have delighted over 350,000 people around the world.
